Raheem Sterling (@sterling7) Pays Homage to Jamaica In His New Collection With Clarks
One of the most famous faces in football today, Raheem Sterling has slowly been making waves in the fashion industry.
In 2020, he launched the limited edition Wallabees with Clarks, last year, he debuted his clothing brand, 1692, at London Fashion Week, and this year, he’s returning to Clarks not only as their Global Ambassador but also working with them to create a fully fledged footwear collection.
Available both online and instore, this will be the first time the footwear giant will be stocked in a major retailer like JD, and the collection is inspired by Sterling’s Jamaican heritage. Featuring the country’s national motto “Out of Many- One People”, on the tongue of the shoe, and ‘1962’, the year Kingston was founded, on the heel, each element of the shoe honours the place that Raheem holds dear to his heart.
Speaking about the process of creating the collection, Raheem said:
“In school I wanted to keep up with the kids wearing fresh kicks so I was selling frozen slush after class to make money to buy my first pair of wallabees.
Fast forward and now to be the first Jamaican with my own Clarks collection is an honour. When I heard I could build this line I was buzzing, it’s a brand I’ve loved from a young age so to have this opportunity is really special.”
The shoes- which are available in tones of navy blue, white, khaki and more- represent the best of Clarks. A British-born brand founded in 1825, their collaboration with Sterling, a Kingston born, London raised icon, merges and celebrates two cultures that’ve been central to not only Sterling’s upbringing but fashion as we know it.
Prices start from £120 and are available to shop at select JD stores or online at clarks.co.uk
