New club night ROOM TWO launches in London to champion the progression of black electronic dance music

Friday 26 July 2024 will see the launch of ROOM TWO, a new bi-monthly club night aimed to champion and platform the progression of black electronic music within the London underground club scene. Taking place at The Hackney Social in East London, Ossie will become the first headline act, performing to an intimate invite-only audience of 150 music lovers and club-goers.

An undisputed force within the electronic dance and club scene, Ossie’s musical sound can be described as a captivating blend of house, bass, UK Garage and disco; characterised by infectious rhythms and deep basslines. His music is often uplifting and groove-driven, delivering pure energy and vibes for the dancefloor, whilst showcasing his versatile and well crafted production skills developed over the last 10+ years.

The team behind ROOM TWO feel extremely privileged to be kicking off this new club night series with such profound talent. Ossie’s catalogue spans back into the late 2000’s, with nods from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Benji B, Annie Mac and more. In February Ossie released his ‘Unstable EP’ via Skepta and Jammer’s Más Tiempo record label. This summer will also see Ossie performing the Más Tiempo stage at the forthcoming Big Smoke Festival in Crystal Palace Park, alongside The Menendez Brothers, Kitty Amor, Uncle Waffles, Loco Dice and of course, Skepta and Jammer.

“This is much more than just another electronic club night,” shares the founders of the movement. “ROOM TWO was birthed to specifically create a credible platform which can continuously spotlight DJs and producers, operating within black electronic music spaces. The opportunities within the entertainment scene for black music has always been limited; we simply want to do our part to create an impactful shift and ensure that necessary spaces are in existence to inaugurate real growth. So with a created for us, by us mentality, our prerogative is to make sure those that deserve to be seen and highlighted, are given the platform to be championed and discovered as much as possible.”

“I’m incredibly excited and inspired to be headlining the launch of ROOM TWO,” shares Ossie on the forthcoming event. “In a time when there are far too few nights dedicated to celebrating black DJs and Producers and the rich history of our music, ROOM TWO feels like a breath of fresh air.

It’s an honour to be part of something that truly acknowledges and amplifies the voices and sounds shaping the London electronic music scene. I’m thrilled that ROOM TWO will be an intimate night as it allows me to properly engage with the crowd. I plan to take them on a journey through my music, creating a truly immersive experience that will be electric! I can’t wait to see where this journey takes us all!”

Running from 22:00 – 02:00, the launch will also see DJ sets from ROOM TWO residents Ronnie Loko and Sabrina-Anne, alongside tsunami Tânia and Ki Pharaoh on hosting duties.

ROOM TWO will operate initially as a free guest-list only event. To attend ROOM TWO x OSSIE on Friday 26 July, please RSVP here.
