GUAP 24 – The Author’s Edition

On the first Wednesday of Black History Month 2021, we welcomed the long-awaited reveal of GUAP’s very first Author’s Edition.

Chelsea Mtada presents some of the most inspirational, intuitive and ground-breaking young authors who have been embraced by the publishing industry in the last couple of years.

For our 24th cover, we proudly present the literary change-makers of current culture. Non-fiction writers Chelsea Kwakye and Ore Ogunbiyi of Taking Up Space: The Black Girl’s Manifesto for Change and Sophia Thakur of Somebody Give This Heart A Pen & Superheros.

Captured by the gentle eye of Photographer; Terna Jogo @shooter_terns. Three young, Black, Female Authors, adorned in dress & costume inspired by the fictional characters they grew up reading.

Sit in a library, musing over their writer’s journey, inspirations and what it means to be one of the literary trailblazers of their generation.
