Black Pound Day Becomes Permanent

What began as an online movement to encourage support of Black-owned brands has turned into a fixture in the biggest shopping centre in Europe.

Last weekend DJ Swiss, the founder of Black Pound Day and member of So Solid Crew, announced that he now has a permanent store space in Westfield White City, where he’ll be selling pieces from Black fashion and beauty brands all year round.

Tommy Hilfiger’s ‘Pop Drop’ Collection

Tommy Hilfiger is known for its red, white and blue palette, but its latest TOMMY JEANS capsule collection offers more colour combos, giving the wearer the opportunity for ultimate self-expression.

Offering key streetwear essentials like sweatshirts, hoodies and rugby shirts, each piece is infused with bright colours ideal for summer, which is embodied in the brand’s SS/22 campaign, Play to Progress.

If you want to experiment and go outside of your comfort zone this summer, check out the Pop Drop collection, available now.

Givenchy’s Knit Trainer

For everyone who ever thought a knit shoe would be an impossible feat, think again. Givenchy’s creative director Matthew M. Williams has created the TK-360, a trainer first seen on the runway for Spring 2022.

It features a classic stretch knit that covers the entire shoe, including the sole, making it possible to walk directly on the knit. The trainer is available in acid yellow, graphite grey, camel beige, navy, light pink, and classic black or white.

Richard Quinn wins the BFC x Vogue Fund

Central Saint Martins alumni and previous winner of the Queen Elizabeth Award for British Design, Richard Quinn, has become a household name in emerging talent.

His signature floral pieces and latex balaclavas have been seen on everyone from Adwoa Aboah and Megan thee Stallion. Last week, the British Fashion Council and Vogue recognised his work, offering him £200,000 and access to a mentoring programme.

Previous winners include WALES BONNER and Molly Goddard, so here’s hoping the fund will go a long way to helping the standout brand grow.

Kendrick Lamar’s pgLang collabs with Converse

Founded in 2020, pgLang is the brainchild of Kendrick Lamar and Music Producer Dave Free. The company aims to tell stories that connect people through shared experiences.

The Converse Chuck 70 and the Pro Leather have been updated with the pgLang touch, including hiking style eyelets and “for pgLang” embossed on the side.

Along with the collaboration, a music video from Tanna Leone and Selah Marley dropped last week, using the laces from the trainers to symbolise connection.
