CONTACT Agency Is On A Mission To Democratise The Creative Industry
“Where creative talent lives” is CONTACT Agency’s tagline. Since being birthed in 2020, they’ve stayed true to the vision. Home to over 900 creatives, the agency, founded by designer Reuben Selby and Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams, has worked with the likes of Balenciaga, Vivienne Westwood and Farfetch to provide brands with models, photographers, and hair and makeup artists for their projects.
With their work rooted in building community and making space for talent in what Reuben describes as a cutthroat industry, CONTACT focuses on supporting creatives on the logistics side of things so that they can prioritise their craft. All members are free from the stress of worrying about contracts or payment terms and, unlike other talent agencies, don’t get charged. This, coupled with the agency’s podcast and blog, where creatives can share inside stories and experiences, makes the journey to becoming a part of the industry smoother and more seamless.
Now, their dedication to their talent is paying off. Over 2,000 jobs have been booked through CONTACT. Their creatives have not only saved over £200,000 in agency fees but have earned over £865,000 in earnings. With a new £3 million investment from Rhino, CONTACT will be able to make more room for more creatives, bridging the gap between established names and upcoming ones.
On the investment, Reuben said, “Rhino Ventures believe in breaking down the financial and technical barriers for upcoming entrepreneurs and want to shift the power dynamic from gatekeepers to individuals”.
He adds that they will use the investment to build their team and add staff to their engineering, marketing, and operations departments. The goal? In July, CONTACT aims to expand its roster to other creatives, including filmmakers and musicians, and hopefully extend the vision to European creatives, spreading the stress-free process outside British shores.
To celebrate this new chapter for the agency, they’ve released a campaign film that encapsulates who they are and what they’re all about: creatives empowering creatives.
CONTACT is living proof that you can be a real force for change when you put your money where your mouth is. Their mission to pry open the establishment’s doors and give young talent a chance to be in the room – without any extra cost – is a lesson to all that creativity thrives when everyone is granted access.
