AGR’s SS23: “Dripping in Colour”
AGR makes their London Fashion Week debut with a technicolour show at iconic London nightclub, Fabric.
Alicia Robinson’s AGR hit a new milestone by showcasing SS23 “Dripping in Colour” for their first show on the official schedule of London Fashion Week. The collection is an ode to the brand’s core values of invoking joy through colour and promoting body positivity and sustainability. Showcasing at Fabric, an iconic venue for London’s nightlife, was a singular moment for the designer Alicia Robinson who spent her formative years working late nights as the door girl at Visions Nightclub.
The runway presented a seamless transition from daytime beachwear to all-night-long dancing fits, with Robinson enhancing her tye-dying and knitted pointelle lycra techniques, including more recycled denim metallic foiling on crochet. “Dripping in Colour” lit up the runway with an accurate selection of colours intended to stimulate positive emotions and encourage mental wellbeing.
Collaboration was indispensable for AGR, who brought their SS23 collection to life with new fluorescent pieces, including resin-dipped earrings and gemstone rings accessories created in partnership with London-based jewellers Hatton Labs. Further inspiration came from Prints by Katharina Grosse’s fabric installations, with additional references to 90s sandblasted jeans, glistening swimwear and Sonia Rykiel’s iconic stripes. Matching the collection were multi-coloured visors, flashy leather belts and handmade Italian handbags, which made us all drip in love with AGR’s stunning looks.
To continue paying homage to London’s nightlife scene, AGR called on DJ and friend Jyoty Singh for the show’s music curation. Jyoty’s mix represents the collection’s tropical feel, with sounds from around the world, including ballet funk, dembow and UK funky.
AGR totally nailed their first debut on the London Fashion Week schedule with gold at the end of the rainbow, a unique casting direction and sustainability with real innovation.
