Your Fro: Friend or Foe?

Your Fro: Friend or Foe?

We may not have anywhere to wear our new spring-summer looks but every day deserves a good hair day and now seems like the perfect time to give your hair a little TLC and recovery from styling manipulation and the winter weather. We all know that frustrating feeling when your hair just isn’t going right its dry, tangled and just impossible to deal with, this can sometimes put us off dealing with it and giving in to the negative connotations given to Afro natural hair but finding a way to include your hair care into your self-care routine makes a tiring chore into something that relaxes you and makes you appreciate your hair whatever texture it may be.

Natural afro hair is rarely shown in the media, beautiful hair is traditionally represented as European straight hair or loose curls, very rarely do we see a broader spectrum of afro hair represented as beautiful and desirable, this has left a lot of black women questioning their beauty and value in society. this week various negative tweets have resurfaced in context to colourism and attacking black women, although these tweets were written more than 6 years ago the discussion on colourism is still very relevant and a prevalent issue deeply rooted within the black community.

These tweets however old and ignorant may have opened up old wounds and triggered insecurities in many black women .With this in mind, it is very important for us to refill on self-love and self-care to remind ourselves of how far we have come and how much we are all changing and learning to love ourselves. You may not be able to go to the nail shop or hair salon to get your dose of self care but why not try out this amazing DIY Avocado and aloe vera hair mask to give yourself the pampering you deserve.
