We had the opportunity to catch up with Vanessa, Swimwear Designer who out of frustration created her own line. Tell us more about your brand, what motivated you to start?

“Vswim by VANESSENCE came to me about 3 years ago, I ordered swimwear for my girls holiday and absolutely nothing would fit. Incredibly frustrated and upset, I considered options such as a breast reduction and even not going on holiday. I searched high and low for sexy swimwear that would also be affordable, I had little to no luck so wearing swimwear smaller than my size was the only feasible option. Unwarranted attention and comments whilst on holiday made me increasingly conscious, upset and insecure; at this moment I decided enough was well and truly enough, my brand from that moment was birthed. After 2 years of putting the idea on hold, I took the bold step and left my job in banking, I wanted to put myself out of my comfort zone and fully immerse myself into my brand.”

How do you seek to transform the swimwear industry?

“My collection has been designed to offer maximum support without the obvious under wiring. The aim is to bring sexy back as well as being practical, the brand will be youthful current and fresh. Many swimwear brands often forget about us the fuller bust babes. I personally believe this is because that fuller bust is associated with the more matured women, it tends to be very difficult to create designs that are practical as it requires a lot of redesigning, material and going back to the drawing board. In hindsight it takes longer to create swimwear for fuller bust and is often not beneficial to many brands.”

What is your ethos when it comes to embracing your curves?

“Social media has transformed the way many women see themselves, it is very difficult when you look in the mirror and you do not look like the average Instagram model to appreciate your body. As plastic surgery is also becoming a more casual approach to sort out many body issues, it is imperative that leading brands are accepting of every body type.

God is a God of intention and our bodies were created for a purpose.”

What do you have planned for VSwim?

“In the next 5 years, VSwim by VANESSENCE will be a leading name for swimwear, especially in the fuller bust sector, once we capture our fuller bust audience we hope to cater to every female eventually.
