[@readerthegreat] Is Making Her Mark With The Release of Her New EP ‘In Bloom’
Following the release of her debut EP, “Change the Weather”, READER returns with her new 3-track EP “In Bloom”.
The lead single of the same title is an elegant blend of soft and fierce. Accompanied with swells of emotion and layers of dreamy harmonies. Reader says of the track:
“I started writing In Bloom over a year ago. It encompasses a time of personal growth and empowerment for me. The lyrics came out of me before I knew what they meant – I used to just play the first verse on the piano over and over again but didn’t know where to take it. Then one day it kind of just fell into place. Transformations are bittersweet because you’re becoming something bigger but you’re also letting go of the past. You have to completely dismantle yourself before you can rebuild. But it feels so good afterwards”
“I produced this EP mainly myself so I feel like there’s a lot more of me in it. It feels more creatively free, more self-assured.”
London-based alternative R&B songstress, Reader (first name Kim) is a rising new talent. Originally from Somerset, the artist-producer hypnotises with her poetic lyrics and angelic yet sultry vocals, creating powerful songs that intertwine soulful electronic R&B with 90s trip-hop influences.
Reader released her debut EP ‘Change The Weather’ independently in Spring 2017, which featured James Blake collaborator Trim and gained attention and critical acclaim from KCRW, Colors Berlin, MixMag, Spotify Official Playlists and Wonderland among others.
After spending 6 months in LA in 2018, classically trained multi-instrumentalist Reader is set to release her follow-up EP independently on 20th February 2019, which consists of 3 self-produced tracks that boast flawlessly sensual songwriting and showcase her development as an artist.
