PREMIERE: Vincent Darby – Still Here We Are [@thevincentdarby]
Vincent Darby brings through the vibe of the Islands on latest release ‘Still Here We Are’.
‘Still Here We Are’ is the latest record from Birmingham’s Vincent Darby. Darby is a rising star of Jamaican and English heritage and he brings that through clearly on this track. Darby is no newcomer to music, he’s been singing since he was 5 and even having been a support act for Flo Rida in the past. He’s continued his ascent and recently performed at BBC Radio 1‘s virtual Big Weekender.
The Jamaican influence comes through strongest on the tracks production and that’s no surprise considering it where it was made. ‘Still Here We Are’ was cooked up at Big Yard Studios in Kingston, Jamaica; Big Yard Studios was set up by Shaggy who has a classic record in the form of ‘It Wasn’t Me’. Darby uses that JA vibe in one of it’s more mellow forms allowing his vocal prowess to take centre stage. Speaking on the track he said:
“‘Still Here We Are’ came from a place of not quite understanding the ‘situation-ship’ that I was in; a story about how something can be so good, but also so bad,”.
‘Still Here We Are’ sees the Birmingham artist flex his superb vocal talents to the full. With plenty to come from the soul singer, Vincent Darby is an artist to watch.
