27-year-old London-based singer/songwriter and guitarist Lavaud is known for her Afro-infused, alternative R&B sound. The British-Mauritian rising star has a string of singles to her name including ‘In This Room’ and ‘Oh My’ featuring Nigerian singer/songwriter Reekado Banks which has gained her over 850,000 streams on Spotify alone. 

Born in Hackney, Lavaud’s artistry is a blend of all the sounds she grew up on. Through her father (who is also a musician), she was exposed to a wide range of genres including R&B, Pop, Reggae, Gospel and Sega (traditional Mauritian sound). Lavaud also cites her father as her teacher- teaching her how to play the guitar. Her debut EP ‘King Vaud’, gained critical acclaim across numerous magazines, radio stations and media houses such as New Wave Magazine, Link Up TV, Complex, Radio 1Xtra and Wonderland. Lavaud continues to show her musical excellence with her latest single ‘Roll On Me’. 

Lavaud’s latest single ‘Roll On Me’ features an all-star ensemble. Featuring Nigerian heavyweights Tiwa Savage, previous collaborator Reekado Banks, Patoranking as well as Haitian star Kanis, ‘Roll On Me’ taps into the rhythms of Afro-Dancehall. Produced by Grammy award winning producer Kel-P, the production is rooted in a simmering, smooth Afrobeats groove. 

As ‘Roll On Me’ is the first in a run of singles leading into her second project, Lavaud is one of the most exciting artists making a name for herself in the Afro-R&B space.
