Introducing [@KevRodgers_]

Kev Rodgers has had quite a year gaining a producer credit on Jaden Smith’s latest project and releasing his own music for the world to hear. Watch his latest single ‘Way Up’ above and then take a look at what he had to say about himself.

How did the producing gig with Jaden come about?

I was honoured to be apart of co-producing on this record. I was brought in by “Mel Lewis” who’s a legend, a colleague, and a mentor to me. He was already working with Jaden before bringing me into the situation. I sent what I had and let them handle the rest, a little over  a year later here we are with Jaden Smith’s Icon single.

What did you learn from the experience?

I learned to be patient, more professional and just became a better student of the game to how a lot of things work. It was a little different for me then usually working in house with Southside of jersey artists Mir Fontane Shaqeyah and Ish Williams.

What’s does your latest single mean to you?

Cool Bag to me is me someone with a cool demeanour but got an edge to him. I give me in the record but also having fun.

How do you find a balance between your production and own artistry?

It is hard to balance a lot but I honestly just love the purity of music as well as making it by whatever way I can contribute so it’s easier to handle the duality of my career.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years

I see myself as being one of the most influential artists / producers in the game. The impact of what I do is a goal of mine.

‘Cool Bag’ will be available across all digital platforms Friday 22nd December.
