Tell us a little about yourself?
My name is Omari Biriye, I’m from South London (Peckham). My work is about Mental Health, Debt, Bullying, and Drug Culture.
What inspired you to do what you do?
Since I was a child, I’ve loved theatre. It really brings people together, like other activities such as sports. However, I really wanted to focus on the social issues within our community. By shedding light upon it in a creative theatrical way.
What was the biggest challenge when creating this film?
The real biggest challenge was liaising with the cast and crew’s schedule. I also did 7 drafts for the Pilot to make sure the story is illustrated clearly.
What was the funniest thing that happened on set?
Believe it or not! The team is full of hilarious people. The young actress who plays “Nisha” (who is my cousin in real life) tried to tickle me during certain scenes without anybody knowing! We tried to keep the positive vibes going, due to the fact Impetuous is a sad storyline.
What are some of the highlights/successes you’ve had most recently?
Networking with amazing individuals from all walks of life! Also, my monologue project was showcased this year at the VAULT Theatre Festival in March 2020.
What’s next for you on your journey?
I’m secretly working on a new film which is a Psychological Thriller. Although, the Impetuous Series will definitely continue in the near future
What would be your advice to other young film makers?
Be very careful on the company you keep around you. Spot the red flags and remove any negative energy as soon as possible.
