GUAP Are Now Official Apple Music Curators

January 18^th, 2022 – Today, GUAP can proudly announce that we are joining the Apple Music family as an official curator and are kicking off the New Year with five exclusive playlists launching this week: Icons, ALT/RAP, Alté Sounds, Emerge: UK and Rhythm & Bangers.

Icons is a time capsule of the culture. It is our home for the people that have defined various eras from the 90s to now – featuring the likes of Sade, Craig David, Ghetts and more. Just like a time capsule, it’s the place you’re always going to come back to for that nostalgia, to reconnect with some of the music that has almost certainly shaped periods or moments of your life. It is a journey from the classics through to the future classics.

ALT/RAP is for the forward-thinking artists such as Kojey Radical and Lex Amor, with a sound that falls into the broad Rap genre but doesn’t fit under any of its niche subgenres. It is where creativity and artistic integrity shine without the strict definitions of a genre. Expect lyricism, quality, and to be introduced to a side of Rap that will constantly go beyond your expectations.

Alté Sounds is the playground for the sounds of Africa and its diaspora that is pushing the boundaries beyond traditional genre lines. Alté is a movement more than a specific sound, and it embodies the freedom of authentic expression by combining a variety of genres to create an unmatched vibe. You will see some familiar faces and be exposed to plenty of new talent making waves.

Emerge: UK is the space for the artists we have tipped as the hottest up-and-comers in the UK. GUAP has always prided itself on its ability to spot and champion talent – especially in music. To continue that legacy, we are dedicating this playlist to being one you come back to for the fresh finds that will keep you in the loop and ahead of the curve. 

Rhythm & Bangers is pretty on the nose for what you can expect. R&B today is not what R&B was at the genre’s inception, and this playlist reflects that. You will get your classic love ballads, but you’re also going to be getting anthems for you to shake a leg to. All of this coming from the voices of now that are shaping the new direction of the genre globally.
