Five For Friday ft. [@cashtasticmusic], [@temsbaby], [@m1llionz] + more
Five For Friday is back again with 5 releases from the past week you should pay attention to.
Five For Friday is back again giving you 5 great tracks/projects for your Friday. Friday is essentially the most important day of the week musically, and typically a lot of music drops on Friday’s. This week much like last has been crazy for releases so it was difficult to bring it down to just five With it being another very busy week of great music to make life a little easier this Friday we are giving you 5 of our top picks that have recently dropped to start off your weekend listening.
Tems – If Orange Was A Place
The woman of the moment Tems dropped her If Orange Was A Place EP earlier this week and it’s safe to say that Tems never disappoints. Opting for quality over quantity always, the five track EP delivers those distinct vocals we have come to love over the past year across perfectly tailored production and we even get a Brent Faiyaz feature for good measure. Across the body of work, we see Tems‘ masterful ability to capture moods and emotions in her vocal delivery all the while delivering bops that people can’t get sick of. It is a stellar offering and the project you need to be bumping from this week.
Cashh – Mood
Cashh dropped some raunchy visuals to go alongside his latest track “Mood” and it’s got women going crazy for it. It’s not quite Skepta “All Over The House” level, it’s on YouTube after all, but without being as explicit as that video “Mood” is causing similar waves. Whilst the video is causing a stir I hope people aren’t overlooking the record itself which is a strong Dancehall offering. As the title and hook state, this one really is a mood, it is all about romance and intimacy and one that I can see becoming a favourite amongst Cashh‘s female audience.
BXKS – Mean Amount
BXKS drops the Timbaland-esque “Mean Amount” an anthem about being broke. It’s not a The Streets type comical account of being broke, the performance is instead about the mentality of what’s going to happen once she no longer is broke. I guess it’s technically a hustlers anthem, it just doesn’t sound like your traditional one. Across the thumping production, BXKS glides with ease delivering witty and intelligent lyrics proving why she’s been building such a strong buzz of recent.
M1llionz – Provisional Licence
Birmingham’s latest star drops his long awaited debut project Provisional Licence. M1llionz has proved for over a year now that he can deliver singles that will have the streets in a chokehold but equally commercially with tracks like “B1llionz” even charting. With such a strong track record there was a lot of pressure for M1llionz to deliver and he didn’t disappoint. All of the new tracks we hear slap, with “Mobbin” looking like the early fan favourite. There was a period where we heard a lot of the “M1llionz flow” but on this body of work M1llionz shows that he has flows for days and the ability to do more than just Drill, although the project largely leans into that sound. It’s a strong offering from an artist who is quickly cementing himself as a staple of the scene.
Lolé Vietro – Somebody Like You
Lolé Vietro is a London based artist who’s Italian heritage is just important to her as the R&B sounds she grew up hearing. For her latest single “Somebody Like You” however we see her get a little Samba flavour added into that mix. The track heavily features Latin Jazz in its production which serves as a unique base for her Neo Soul-style vocal performance. It is a combination that definitely pays off and a sound Lolé should definitely explore more.
