Five For Friday is back again with 5 releases from the past week you should pay attention to.

Five For Friday is back again giving you 5 great tracks/projects for your Friday. Friday is essentially the most important day of the week musically, and typically a lot of music drops on Friday’s. This week much like last has been crazy for releases so it was difficult to bring it down to just five, but that’s why there’s going to be honourable mentions. With it being another very busy week of great music to make life a little easier this Friday we are giving you 5 of our top picks that have recently dropped to start off your weekend listening.

Enny – Daily Duppy

Enny has shown time and time again that she’s a star and her Daily Duppy is a reminder that just because a lot of what we’ve seen has been super polished songs that doesn’t mean she can’t bar. On this latest freestyle, we see her waxing lyrical with a variety of flows and looking like she was having fun with it. It’s delivered with a smoothness and confidence that makes every lyric hit with that little bit more impact and keeps you invested and wanting more. Sprinkled throughout it are also some light vocals showing Enny‘s range, if there is any criticism of this Daily Duppy it would be that it needed to be longer.

Odeal – Mr Workerman

Odeal has not missed this year and has shown real variety in sound across his drops and “Mr Workerman” is no exception to that. It is a bouncy blend of Afrobeats, Dancehall elements and more contemporary R&B production making it a perfect Summer track. Odeal floats across the production effortlessly and delivers a vibe whilst not sacrificing on the content which sees him exploring infatuation from the perspective of an overprotective man. He doubled down on this release and gave us slick rollerskate date vibes for the video that only added to the track’s vibe and narrative.

Chrissi – Back In The Day

Chrissi is an upcoming talent you absolutely can’t sleep on with an enrapturing voice and the accompanying maturity in her subject matter. She hasn’t released much just yet, but she did provide a track for 2019s celebrated female led (on screen and off screen) film Rocks. For her debut single and video, Chrissi delivers a ballad that is hauntingly good and showcases a glimpse as to what we can expect from the young star. Although her debut release she has set the standard high and I’m confident that Chrissi will continue to deliver at this standard as she continues to release.

Central Cee – Obsessed With Me

Central Cee actually dropped twice this week but the track everyone was waiting for was “Obsessed With You” which samples viral star PinkPantheress‘s hit song “Just For Me”. Sticking to the tracks Garage roots we see Central Cee delivering his street raps with his easily identifiable flow but bouncing off the sampled vocals which provide a nice contrast to the verses. Having been so eagerly anticipated the track delivers on the potential shown in the song’s teaser clip but it does run a little short but that only increases the tracks replayability if anything. It still would have been nice to get maybe one extra verse though.

Alana Maria – LALA

Alana Maria today dropped her debut EP LALA and she enlisted some heavy hitters for this first outing. Features aside, Alana delivers a solid body of work that introduces the many sides and vibes to her in an organic way. She is a voice needed in the R&B space and has elements of old school R&B to her work but delivered with modern finesse and swagger. It is a strong debut project. The only criticism, and it’s a small one, is that with there being 3 tracks with features it would have been nice to have had one or two extra tracks of just Alana, but that doesn’t take anything away from the project.

Honourable Mentions:

Dave for the new verse on “Verdansk” and the best Call Of Duty inspired visuals I think we’ll ever get. Bobby Shmurda is back with his first release since coming out of jail “No Time For Sleep (freestyle)” which sees a new style for Bobby but also that he hasn’t really lost a step with that time inside. Baby Keem dropped his album The Melodic Blue which has some real shining moments, as well as being one of the few places to hear new Kendrick Lamar verses.
