Fendi Menswear AW23: Comforting Elegance
The Fendi man is calm, elegant and confidently quiet; the perfect complement to the loud and proud Fendi woman. They’re the ideal power couple.
At first glance the colour palette of this collection may trick you into yawning. Charcoals, blacks, beiges and muted purples don’t shout in your face. But with closer inspection you see the fun side. Like the introverted friend who has the best sense of humour behind closed doors, Fendi menswear AW23 asks you to take a second look.
A collection that starts with a floor-length cashmere cape is definitively not for the meek or shy. It’s for the confident that don’t crave external validation, are self-assured in their identity and happily let others shine since they effortlessly command a room.
Unlike other AW23 men’s shows, Silvia Venturini Fendi didn’t use bare chests and exposed V-lines to communicate sensuality. Instead she used exposed shoulders, clavicles and chests through sheer tops.
A lot of the pieces featured draping and piling fabric around the neckline. Commercially this is a good move as it makes these pieces easier to style on women (the current trend in menswear) but also make this collection stand out.
Overall, this collection is strong, fun, intentional and beautiful. Truly a breath of fresh air and a unique offering to the menswear sphere.
