Croydon Group SDS Reveal Empowering Community Based Website for BAME Creators
SDS was founded by Makeda Bennett-Amparbeng and Jade Reid in 2018. Focused on creating safe-spaces and local creators in Croydon, the organisation looks to empower the community through rapping, comedy, singing and poetry.
Already partnering with Jords and Marc Jones, SDS has already amassed an impressive presence in Croydon. The idea was first birthed, when Makeda worked on the abolishing of Form 696, a former practice which suppressed London’s creative scene.
Now, the platform has launched its website, inviting artists to submit music and chat to the team via social media. The site, which launched on June 1st, also hosts “Bedroom sessions” which are quarantine themed performances.
