Adobe’s new AI integration ‘Firefly’ is game-changing for all creatives

With its newest release, Firefly in Adobe Illustrator, creators can prompt an AI model to create and modify content with precision, speed, and ease. The best part of this cutting-edge AI is integrated across the Adobe family with unique features correlated to each program. 

Within Adobe Illustrator, Generative Recolor (beta) enables designers to swiftly switch colours and experiment with different aesthetic themes with simple text prompts. In Adobe Photoshop, the Firefly-powered tool Generative Fill (beta) is photoshop’s biggest update since its genesis, which uses text descriptions to add, extend or remove the content in seconds. Not forgetting in the beta AI-integrated version of Adobe Express, users can generate custom images and text effects using Text to Image and Text Effect features. 

With nearly 200 million assets, from video and design templates to royalty-free Adobe Stock images, Adobe Firefly has revolutionised content production for enterprises and creators of all skill levels and assisting individuals be more productive and organised with their use of this technology in their day-to-day lives. Beyond productivity, use of this technology will enable people to connect and communicate with one another more easily through image assets displayed in email, instant messaging, video conferencing, and social media platforms and more. Building on that accessibility, Adobe recently partnered with Google, bringing Firefly and Express to Bard: Google’s experimental conversational AI service. 

Thanks to Firefly, long gone are the days of hunching over a screen and spending copious amounts of time creating and editing the minutia. Not only can Firefly take on tasks of all sizes and difficulty levels, but it can also protect you. The integrations include Content Credentials tags that ensure that wherever your work digitally travels, its original credentials will remain associated with you, protecting against theft and plagiarism. 

The exciting Firefly integration into Adobe Illustrator was announced at Adobe MAX London, a creative conference bringing together world-class leaders in an eclectic program of activations and conversations. The splashy event, in the British capital for the first time after years of running in LA, took over The Beams in London’s Royal Docks. Attendees were immersed in inspiring keynotes and panel conversations, experiences, and even opportunities to test the limitless possibilities of Firefly across the Adobe suite. Conversations from the evening featured comedian and social media star Munya Chawawa and Adobe creative director, Tasnim Bhuiyan who together unpacked their creative journey’s genesis, inspiration and hopes for the future. 

Attendees were immersed in inspiring keynotes including Scott Belsky, founder of the world’s largest creative network platform Behance and Adobe’s Chief Strategy Officer, who shared his thoughts on how emerging innovation and creative innovation is helping Adobe shape its own version of the future.

On top of these groundbreaking releases, the software company also launched the Adobe Creative Residency. The Residency collaborates with world-renowned art institutions Victoria & Albert Museum in London and The Museum of Modern Art in New York City to further Adobe’s mission of Creativity For All. Early-career artists who take part in the Creative Residency will have access to the museums’ resources, mentorship, and a platform to display their work.
