PREMIERE: Hare Squead – Like I’m Barack ft. Peter Xan
Hare Squead are continuing their Superweird EP campaign with the visuals for ‘Like I’m Barack’.
‘Like I’m Barack’ is the first track off of Hare Squead‘s Superweird EP which dropped back in March and features London’s Peter Xan. With their names staying fresh on peoples minds whether it was for their performance on COLORS or their short feud with an MP in the tabloids, Hare Squead are definitely doing something right. But beyond the controversy, the reason the Irish duo have really kept the attention is that the music is great. Having released their debut EP, Supernormal, and now the follow up in Superweird the duo has amassed over a million monthly listeners on Spotify alone.
On ‘Like I’m Barack’ we are treated to what makes the group stand out so much. They play with sounds and end up with production that sounds like no one else’s but that still falls under the recognisable Rap bracket. On the track, production is ethereal and trippy providing an easy on the ear beat for the artists to go to work on.
The Dublin duo trade charismatic, free-flowing rhymes to a backdrop of stylised visuals. It starts with the pair being held captive by a mystery woman before unfolding into dynamic individual performances and atmospheric monochrome scenes. The vibe is then elevated as featured artist Peter Xan appears, the rising talent behind ‘Elon Flow’, ‘In The Morning’ and ‘Dopamine’.
