For an iconic birthday party or a date night-in, popping open a bottle of sparkling wine must evoke that unbeatable sense of celebration.

Now, the world of sparkling wines has been welcomed with a new pioneering Black-owned brand: Severan. Music manager and Severan founder Dumi Orubota noticed how English sparkling wine has increased in popularity over the last few years but are unrepresentative of the people who drink sparkling wine around him in London.

Severan was born to change that.

Severan aims to promote Black British excellence in all its forms, and the offering stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the best sparkling wines and Champagne on the market. Made from chardonnay grapes from the vineyards of Franschhoek, South Africa, the base wine is imported to England. Here, it goes through a second fermentation in the rolling hills of Hampshire before aging for a further two and a half years.

The attention to quality put at every moment of the process manifests into a sparkling wine that blends the perfect balance of fruit and minerality, all held within a luxurious bottle.

After celebrating its launch at Woodbury House Gallery in Mayfair, with guests ranging from rapper Nines to TV presenter Zeze Millz, the sparkling wine is now available to purchase online at Severan.co.uk. It will also be at selected venues and retailers nationwide.
