Travis Alabanza Tells A Powerful Story of Survival Through Her Poetry & Performances.

“I never knew, growing up on a council estate, that I could be black, and queer, and trans, and still live a life with happiness, love, and friends,” – Travis Alabanza 

A poet, theatre-maker and performer. Travis Alabanza has emerged as a national and global voice for marginalised communities. They turn trauma into art and seeks to tell the real story of experiences that gender non-conforming face. 

After releasing their self-publishing book “Before I Step Outside (You Love Me” and a Ted Talk that won the praise of lGBTQ+ icon -Laverne Cox. Albanza soon won the hearts of many all over the world and has become a key voice for LGBTQ+ activism.

Their work has been in publications like the Guardian, BBC, Dazed, Gal-Dem, and I.D. They have performed at venues such as the Royal Exchange, Tate Britain, Roundhouse Theatre, Harvard University and more. 

Alabanza’s visibility has placed them as one of the public trans voices in the UK that inspire change, being awarded the Gay Times Future Fighter Award and listed in the Evening Standard as one of the most influential, under 25-years olds in the UK.
