@LILUZIVERT releases visuals for XO Tour Life.

Props for creativity…

I’ve always said that I rated this new wave of rappers as being very creative, and a result very dope. Whether I fucked with their music or not, the ideas for their videos always earned them a medal from me. But with Lil Uzi’s new video for ‘XO Tour Life’ I’m not too sure. Directed by fashion designer and DJ, Virgil Abloh (he’s the founder of label Off-White), the vid sees Lil Uzi dancing around in a (very nice) sequin tee, with lightning skies and The Weeknd making a cameo. And then there’s the zombies and the blood and the Arabic subtitles, which actually have nothing to do with the song. The track isn’t exactly light hearted with the lyrics, “push me to the edge/ all my friends are dead”, and so maybe these are visuals that offer his fans a deeper insight into his psyche, and the meaning behind his lyrics. For me though, I see it as a video that’s overly weird for the sake of it. Either way, props for creativity..
