[@KodakBlack1k] Is Back With ‘Project Baby 2’.
“Bossed up sayin’ lately he ain’t been the same…”
Florida rapper Kodak Black has returned with his 5th mix tape, ‘Project Baby 2’. His studio album ‘Painting Pictures’ came out in March, and managed to get to number 3 in the US Billboard Charts, but for me the only songs that really stood out were “Top Off Benz” and of course, “Tunnel Vision”.
Migos member Offset features on ‘Built My Legacy’, a catchy tune with decent performances from both rappers. It’s the same kind of content that we’re used to with rappers these days (percs, bitches and reckless behaviour), but the song is dope, and I’m hoping that there will be a vid real soon,
Before I even heard ‘Roll In Peace’, featuring another Florida rapper, XXX Tenacion, I knew that it would be a banger. Produced by London On Da Track (he’s produced for 21 Savage, Gucci Mane and Drake, just to name a few), the track sees Kodak rapping about loyalty and XXX denying claims that he assaulted his ex-girlfriend. With controversy surrounding both of these rappers with how they treat women, it’s easy to see why there has been some backlash over the lyrics in this song.
‘Unexplainable’ sees Kodak basically saying f*** you to anyone that has a problem with him, because people are never going to be happy with him. “Go back to the Kodak off your first mix tape” is a bar that stands out for me. Compared to Kodak’s first mix tape, which had a more old school hip hop feel, his new music is a lot more “creative”. For me, it’s his creativity with both his lyrics and visuals that makes him such a great artist.
Overall I would say the mix tape is proper dope. Each song is something different, and has a different vibe to it, unlike some mix tapes that have been dropped by other rappers recently. With so much controversy surrounding Kodak Black, it’s easy to see why people dislike his character, but as an artist he is extremely talented, and this 5th mix tape proves it.
