GUAP’s fashion forecast: what to expect on the streets this season
Now that fashion week is coming to an end, fashion editors, fashion buyers and professionals across the industry are planning for the season, ready to release items inspired by this year’s fashion week designers, including both new and innovative designers and the old classic favourites. This year we got a varied range of collections and inspirations. For those overwhelmed on how to process all the runway shows and wondering what to expect, here are a few examples of what you can expect to see this coming spring season. Fashion can be unpredictable and move faster than we can predict, so use this as a simple guideline, Just do you, fashion is all about experimentation!
Old school and new school stripes
This fashion week we saw stripes in both classic pinstripe suits, as well as a more colourful 80’s look with Nigerian designer Kenneth Ize, presenting a colourful striped collection made from both Nigerian and Austrian materials.
Cow print
This coming season some unexpected prints will appear in stores and on the streets, we will possibly be swapping out cheetah print for cow print. The bold black and white statement print was seen from Off-White to Stella McCartney bringing on a whole cow costume along with a range of other animals. We have seen Cheetah print, leopard print, snake print. Now its time for cow print.
80’s style coloured leather and latex
Taking it up a notch from the black leather jackets and trousers, this season you may see leather in 80’s style and colours such as burnt orange, reds and blues.
Oversized bags
We have had a real struggle with the mini bag trend but we can finally leave the house with more than lipgloss. Oversized bags will be making an appearance this season combined with animal prints. This trend appeared at the Off-White Paris show worn both as a clutch and a handbag.
Accentuating the feminine form – breastplates
We have already been seeing corsets and bodices, as well as Zendaya rocking a bright prink breastplate made by Tom Ford to the critics choice award. This season accentuating the feminine form using breastplates will be a big trend. The breastplates will be a trend in line with the future of fashion, using technology as a big part of creating these breastplates. In order to get the perfect fit, the client requires a 3D print of their torso, this is something that will soon be available in stores.
