Five For Friday is back again giving you 5 great tracks/projects for your Friday. Friday is essentially the most important day of the week musically, and typically a lot of music drops on Friday’s. Friday is the day that the official charts are announced, which lets us know who holds the coveted number one position. We’ve had another very busy week of great music so to make life a little easier this Friday we are giving you 5 of our top picks that have recently dropped to start off your weekend listening.

Naira Marley x Busiswa – Coming

Naira Marley is an artist we should all be extremely happy for. Having started his career in the UK and not receiving the acclaim he should have, his success since moving to Nigeria feels like his hard work coming to fruition. It helps that he seems to have found a niche for creating a vibe like no other whilst maintaining elements of familiarity. It also helps he is the king of making catchy songs that can captivate audiences worldwide and ‘Coming’ is just another one of those. The track isn’t new but the video just came out and adds some playfulness to the risqué content of the song.

Blanco – Magneto

Blanco is back with new track ‘Magneto’ and an appropriately X-Men themed video to go alongside it as well as announcing his upcoming City Of God project. If you’ve followed Blanco for a while you’ll know he doesn’t really conform to expectations and does things his own way. ‘Magneto’ feels like one of those decisions to do something he wants as the record is a departure from his recent string of releases, seeing him tackle Rap. It’s a surprise but not a bad one, we’re used to Blanco on those Baille Funk influenced Drill beats and the title of his upcoming would suggest we’d be getting more of that, so to see him switch it up sets things up nicely as it forces us to go into the project with no concrete expectations.

Swindle Ft. Loyle Carner, Kojey Radical & JNR Williams – LOST

This track is a big link up orchestrated by the maestro producer Swindle. Having Loyle Carner and Kojey Radical on the same track is iconic in itself so to have Swindle producing and additional vocals from JNR Williams it’s really something special. Speaking on ‘LOST’ Swindle says “This song for me is about integrity and features artists who I feel have great amounts of it.” This translates well across the verses with Kojey and Loyle exploring the theme of loss just as much as they do success. It has a real Funk feel and bounce to it that will have you bopping your head and spinning the record over and over again.

Venna Ft. Knucks – Standard

For those who don’t know Venna is, he is the multi-talented Grammy Award winning saxophonist and producer. He’s also a frequent collaborator of Knucks and they come together for ‘Standard’ again to create that magic they usually do. On ‘Standard’ we get a smooth, mellow Jazz influenced Rap record that has a little summer vibe to it that is perfect to chill to. Knucks graces the track with a quality performance with the blend of cheeky nonchalance that makes him such a fan favourite alongside that slick wordplay any Rap fan can appreciate.

Brent Faiyaz Ft. Drake – Wasting Time

Does this one really need that much explanation? Brent Faiyaz and Drake deliver greatness on their solo tracks, bringing them together couldn’t be anything but a good track. Drake arguably didn’t have his greatest verse of recent memory on the track, but it’s still Drake and he hasn’t really released a verse you can be overly critical of in a while. Brent Faiyaz is of course the star of the show on the record and he delivers accordingly making the track what it is.
