Five For Friday ft [@Knucks_music], [@amaarae], [@finnfoxell] + more

Friday’s are packed full of releases, these are 5 you should pay particular attention to today.

Five for Friday is back again giving you 5 great tracks/projects for your Friday. Friday is essentially the most important day of the week musically, and typically a lot of music drops on Friday’s. Friday is also the day that the official charts are announced letting us know who holds the coveted number one position. To make life a little easier this Friday we are giving you 5 of our top picks that have just dropped.

Blanco – Anakin

Blanco has consistently dropped hits since embarking on his solo career and ‘Anakin’ is just another one of those. His iconic flow is, of course, present alongside a plethora of slick sequences of wordplay and they all come together over truly unique production. Production is something Blanco seems to just know how to select perfectly and his incorporation of more Latin sounds has consistently kept him in his own lane. That production always complements Blanco nicely and simultaneously keeps him away from the controversy that surrounds the Drill sound he came up on. The only thing that could really be asked of Blanco is more frequent drops, but as long as he continues the quality the gaps are fine.

Knucks – London Class

Knucks is back again with another project and I think for fans who were conflicted by NRG 105, London Class is more the project many would have imagined Knucks would deliver. Sonically it is quintessential Knucks – the delivery is smooth, there’s plenty of wordplay and tongue in cheek personality on show, and the production creates a vibe of opulence and class. Beyond the quality vibes he brings, London Class also boasts a line up of impressive features across the project. The most surprising one being Loyle Carner which is a great look but also boasting appearances from Sam Wise, kadiata, KXYZ, and Venna. It feels like a complete package and should definitely be on your rotation this Friday.

Amaarae – Fancy

Amaarae is a star, and time and time again she delivers. ‘Fancy’ is no exception but shows that she isn’t limited to any sound at all. Her sultry vocal tone can seemingly fit on any type of production whether more Afro-inspired like on ‘Leave Me Alone’ or even on sounds like Trap as evidenced here on ‘Fancy’. The track is a vibe and the visuals nods to cyber nostalgia, rave, punk and more do a great job of providing an engaging watch to go alongside a great track. In Amaraae‘s own words ‘Fancy’ is “all about being a bad bitch” and how fashion can play a role in female empowerment and self-confidence.

Finn Foxell – Talk Is Cheap

Talk Is Cheap is the laid back 8 track offering from West London’s lo-fi lyricist Finn Foxell. The EP’s 24 minute run time is a curation of some of the best elements of Finn as an artist tied together through strong cohesion across the entire project’s production. Finn flexes across the project and largely does so with no features, and I think that’s the only place where I personally could have asked for more. With only 8 tracks I’m not expecting many features, but as a member of Elevation/Meditation, it would have been nice to have the whole crew on a track. But that’s one small thing in the grand scheme of things, the project is great even without that link up.

PA Salieu ft. BackRoad Gee – My Family

PA Salieu is having an incredible year along with a great run of singles and feature spots including SL‘s ‘Hit The Block’ and the remix to BackRoad Gee‘s street anthem ‘Party Popper’. He again links up with BRG and it’s clear that the two have an excellent chemistry when it comes to making tracks together. ‘My Family’ is the two bouncing off each other whilst bringing two distinct energies. PA leads with a smoother more laid back delivery which is in stark contrast to BRG‘s high energy and aggressive style, but it comes together really well.
