Friday’s are packed full of releases, these are 5 you should pay particular attention to today.
We all love Friday’s it’s usually the sign of the weekend and a day that just brings good vibes and a time to let your hair down. But Friday is also probably the most important day of the week in the music calendar as it is a day when a lot of music drops. More importantly, Friday is also the day that the official charts are announced letting us know who holds the coveted number one position. To make life a little easier this Friday we are giving you 5 of our top picks that have dropped today.
Skepta, Chip, Young Adz – Insomnia
Skepta, Chip, and Young Adz are all legends, each having hit incredible heights in their careers. This was probably the most anticipated Friday release here in the UK. The three artists all have their own distinct styles so it was an interesting mix for all of them to come together on Insomnia. It is heavily Trap influenced production wise but what really brings the project together is Chip. Chip is by far the standout on the project delivering plenty of memorable lines and flows across the 12 tracks despite the competition he’s playing against.

KAMILLE – ‘Love + Attention’
Streatham native KAMILLE has dropped an exciting new single ‘Love + Attention’. The track is an uptempo bop that mixes elements of Pop and Dancehall for a track that suits the sunny day it’s dropped on. For those who don’t recognise her name, you will recognise her writing. She has penned several number one singles for other artists which has contributed to over 3 billion Spotify streams and over 3 billion YouTube views. She has additionally appeared as a coach on X Factor and picked up a Songwriter of the Year award along the way. It wasn’t until 2017 however that she started releasing as a solo artist and she has gone from strength to strength with that career leap.

Victoria Jane – In My Zone
Relative newcomer Victoria Jane dropped her impressive debut project In My Zone today. The Mancunian songstress’ dynamic vocals evidently stand out from the rest, and forms the basis of a project that will be sure to continue the interest in the young star. Add to this that she self-produced the 5 track number herself and it’s no wonder she’s already supported acts like J Grrey. The project crosses genres but comes together cohesively, and even from the very first listen impresses across each track.
Fivio Foreign – ‘Wetty’
This track has been long awaited despite the fact it has been leaked for 3 months. It has had a name change from it’s initial leak but that doesn’t matter – the track slaps. It now has an official video to go alongside it too after having a teaser video made on Triller released back in January. Fivio is showing himself to really be one to pay attention to and one who isn’t confined by his breakout sound at all.
You can stream ‘Wetty’ here.
PARTYNEXTDOOR – PARTYMOBILE
This was yet another long awaited project from PARTNEXTDOOR, an artist who has built up a pattern of coming and going from the scene. It is a seeming return to form from the Canadian star who has struggled to break free from his earlier bodies of work which many still consider his best. It is similar-ish in vibe to some of that earlier stuff but there is definitely some experimenting that has been happening in the camp. That’s a good thing to see as it shows he’s creating undeterred by public opinion. The project has had some recent buzz before it dropped due to it having a coveted feature from Rihanna who has otherwise been absent from music since 2017, much to her fans annoyance.
