As well as making raw and arresting sounds, GAIKA is an engaging writer and a visual and performance artist, having his audio-visual sculpture Zemel exhibited at 180 studios and The British Art Show in 2022.
Words by GAIKA:
He who is born without land
Is born in the drift towards tomorrow
He becomes a hero of his own design
In search of propulsive music
In a conversation with birth and death
And the meaning of ghosts
How to forget them
And find peace in all the worlds
You see, there is a part of us that does not exist
A void space amongst a network of stories
In that realm reside ghosts
there they are free to roam through time,
unbound by the marking of birth and death
or by the power invested in simple pen and ink.
They are apparitions and they haunt us from underneath the sea
underneath the wreckage of greed and violence
They sing their immortal songs undestined and defiant.
