[@afronation] Portugal first acts have just been announced
The now global festival, Afro Nation, that started off in Algarve last year is making a triumphant return.
Having made a name for itself with its first offering and being extremely successful last year, Afro Nation Portugal looks set to be bigger than ever in 2020. Whilst the festival has now done Ghana as well as announced Puerto Rico and Miami everybody has been looking forward to another year of Portugal fun. Bringing together Afrobeats’ number one promoter SMADE Entertainment, Catalyst Management, and Event Horizon has allowed for the monster line up below to come together – and this is just the first set to be announced.
Following a triumphant debut last year, which saw Afro Nation Portugal sell out in a matter of days, the festival returns to the Algarve on 17th – 19th July 2020, for a celebration of black culture, Afrobeats, hip-hop, reggae and dancehall.
Headliners are in the form of Afrobeats royalty Wizkid, who will be making a return, following his show stopping performance last year, plus Jamaican reggae star Chronixx and French powerhouse singer Aya Nakamura, who has risen to international success in recent years with her Afropop infused hits including ‘Djadja’. Other highlights that have been announced are Naira Marley, Tory Lanez, Br3nya, Sho Madjozi and of course Afro B.
The festival’s debut in Portugal last year was praised for its undeniable community atmosphere and ability to connect people from all backgrounds through the love of music. Proving history was made, Afro Nation was a true cultural milestone as the first celebration of its nature and scale and its sophomore year in July will be no exception.
