Son Of A Father, Father Of A Son: What makes Father-Son relationships falter or flourish?

Son Of A Father, Father Of A Son: What makes Father-Son relationships falter or flourish?

By Cosmas Ojemen

Son Of A Father, Father Of A Son is the first installment of a visual series which aims to portray familial relationships and the soft microcosms from which they develop by Cosmas Ojemen, Nez and Ruby Okoro.

Featuring Father Femi Dada, more often known as “Rasta,” who farms with his two sons, Seun and Segun, these images depict the emotionality involved in a loving father-son relationship as well as the time, energy and resources we dedicate to the people we love.

Rasta learnt how to farm from his father, now he uses his hands to support his sons through school while training them in his vocation. Individualism is a virtue Rasta holds close to his heart, “My gift to them is freedom. After school, they can choose anything they want to be.”

Aiming to capture Rasta and his sons on the farm, where they spend the most time together, they are garbed in sustainable brands Bloke, Dukun, and Kkerele, that bring to mind the words slow, steady, necessary which also ring true in sustaining lifelong familial relationships.
