5 For Friday is Having A Little Re-Brand. We still want to keep you up to date with everything new that you need to add to your playlist – but keeping it down to just 5 tracks / projects a week was too hard when there’s so much good music out there. So we’re giving you even more. We’re still diving into the deepest darkest corners of the musical ocean to bring you our Crème De La Crème of new releases – but we’re just widening the scope a little because as they say there’s plenty of fish in the sea 🙂 So here are picks for what you should be listening to this week.

SOPHIE FAITH – HEART IS ON MY SLEEVE

Fast-rising jazz and soul artist Sophie Faith reveals her gospel-infused single ‘Heart Is On My Sleeve’. Co-written by Stormzy the track is a vulnerable , beautifully minimal and enchanting four minutes of bliss as Faith unravels her raw emotions.

DOWNTOWN KAYOTO – IN2YOU

GUAP30 cover star Downtown Kayoto is one of the most exciting indie pop artist out right now and In2you is another testament to this. Merging UK garage and agile R&B In2You sees Kayoto pen his feelings about ‘failed situationships’ in the most fun and feel good way possible.

SKAI WATER FT. LIL UZI VERT – MILES (REMIX)

No one does genre blending like Nottingham native Skaii Water. After his viral hit Miles the artist revisits the track now graced with a verse from none other than Lil Uzi Vert. It’s a satisfying mix of hyper-pop and jersey club all while vulnerably dissecting the need to leave a relationship.

KWAKU ASANTE – WANDERLUST EP

Kwaku Asante is a frontrunner in the UK’s burgeoning R&B scene. With smooth buttery vocals, vulnerable and effortless storytelling and beautiful production – the Wanderlust EP encompasses everything that makes Kwaku an artist to keep a close eye and ear on.

TEMPEST – HEATHENS

We’ve included Tempest in a 5 for Friday before and comparing her last release to this one – the versatility is effortless as she glides on this hyper-pop R&B hybrid. ‘Entering her villain era’, the song sees the New York artist embrace her dark side in an equally as mesmerising visual.

SUTE IWAR & WURLD – JUDAH LION

Abuja based afro-fusion artist Suté Iwar’s latest singl ‘Judah Lion’ is a sultry R&B infusion created alongside Wurld. The pair float ethereally on the self produced beat penning a homage to a love interest and an exclamation of wonder at her beauty.

VENNA – SICILY’ BOX

Grammy award winning Saxophonist and producer Venna is back. Although we usually hear him alongside the likes of other highly esteemed artists the rare occasion we get a solo track – it’s always a gem. Sicily’ Box is no exception. Featuring Yusef Dayes, multi-instrumentalist Marco Bernadis & bassist Rocco Palladino the track is four minutes of pure jazz bliss.

TENDAI – TIME IN OUR LIVES

Tendai is back again with a single just as, if not more beautiful as his last. ‘Time In Our Lives’ is a captivatingly sublime track coproduced by Tendai himself. The song is seeped in honesty, rawness and sonically defies genre in the most beautiful way. At just 22, Tendai’s genius is not something to pass by.

BRAZY – 1ST PLACE

If you haven’t heard of Brazy then now is the time to tap in. ‘1st Place’ is the ultimate bad bitch anthem – the genre blending afro infused track showcases Brazy’s effortless pen and confidence. Definitely one to watch.
