RE-UP: Recent Releases You Need To Pay Attention To ft. [@KAMALNW] [@VENNALDN] [@OLIVEOSUN] & More

It’s the first month of a new year and GUAP is back with a new Re-Up segment, keeping you up to date with the newest releases. Fridays have always traditionally been the day that new music drops, and even though that isn’t always the case anymore, it still feels fitting that we use the day to share and showcase some of our favourite picks. From EDM to R&B to drill, there’s something for everyone to listen to this week, so let’s go.

CLAVISH – RAP GAME AWFUL (EP)

North London rapper Clavish has finally released his highly anticipated debut mixtape “Rap Game Awful”, and also released the video for the lead single “No Difference”, a visual shot across Dubai and Switzerland. His distinctive flow and clever wordplay carry the project across 28 tracks, with features from the likes of Rimzee, Youngs Teflon, Kaash Paige and more.

SKRILLEX, FRED AGAIN…, FLOWDAN – RUMBLE

An mash-up of both genre and geographic proportions, “Rumble” is a dubstep collaboration from legendary US DJ Skrillex, rising UK producer Fred again… and grime MC Flowdan. At just two and a half minutes long, the song leads the listener in with a stuttering beat, before punching heavy alongside Flowdan’s deep flow.

MBROWN – R’MB (EP)

South East London native MBrown delivers effortless vocals and rhythmic beats across his new EP. R’MB, a play on his name and the genre he navigates so smoothly, takes influence from his Nigerian upbringing and his musical inspirations. The 6-track project glides across a variety of musical elements, with final track ‘Triggered’ closing out and standing out.

SAM SMITH FT. KOFFEE & JESSIE REYEZ – GIMME

This new single is taken from Sam Smith’s upcoming studio album ‘Gloria’, and was written by the three of them whilst taking part in a writing camp in Jamaica. ‘Gimme’ celebrates sensuality and sex, with Sam Smith’s smooth vocals complimenting Jessie’s repetitive chorus and Koffee’s dynamic lyricism.

LIV.E – FIND OUT

US based R&B singer and producer Liv.e releases new single ‘Find Out’, ahead of her upcoming album next month. The single explores self-love and combines delicate harmonies with softly strong lead vocals.

FREDO – DAVE FLOW

Following up his November announcement single “I’m Back”, west London rapper Fredo drops “Dave Flow”, complete with suitably lavish new visuals. With the title of the song referencing the friendship between himself and Dave, the single is lyrically about celebration and gratitude, against the backdrop of Fredo’s signature extravagance.

VENNA FT. MICK JENKINS & MASEGO – CASA LOPEZ

UK based instrumentalist Venna links up with stateside collaborators Masego and Mick Jenkins for this track. ‘Casa Lopez’ leans heavy on dreamy production, lyrics and vocals to create this chilled track that showcases the talent from all 3 of them.

EZRA COLLECTIVE FT. FELA KUTI – LADY

The London based group has constantly stated that Fela Kuti is a huge source of inspiration for them, and on this single, they put their own stamp on ‘Lady’. It still has hues of the original, but is unmistakably an Ezra Collective track, with gorgeous solos and seismic interplay.

BRAZY X DOGHOUSE – ATTENDS (REMIX)

This Amapiano infused track sees genre-bending female artists brazy and DOGHOUSE link up to provide a unique sound and witty lyricism for the girls.

TRAVIS & ELLZZZ – FULL CIRCLE (EP)

If you are unfamiliar with the Irish rap scene, then here are two artists that have been instrumental to the game. Thriving off each other lyrically, TraviS and Elzzz impress with their new EP, ‘Full Circle’.

MASTER PEACE – VERONICA

London based artist Master Peace explores all the fun feelings that come with young love in his new single ‘Veronica’, the latest release from his EP, ‘Peace of Mind’.

FIMIGUERRERO FT. LANCEY FOUX – DARK KNIGHT

Fimiguerrero teams up with Lancey Foux on ‘Dark Knight’, a whirlwind of hedonism that includes fun lyrical references of everyone from Al Capone to Ronaldinho.

KAMAL – ESSENTIAL

Featuring sweet vocals set against cutting lyrics, North West London’s Kamal explores the harsh reality of heartbreak in this pop-soul single.
