Nigeria’s Enamel does it for the ‘Gang’

Enamel drops visuals filmed in South Africa for second single ‘Gang’.

‘Gang’ is the follow up to Enamel‘s debut single ‘Pokish’ that has already garnered him comparisons to Burna Boy, Naira Marley, and more. The 24 year old, Ibadan born artist is making quite the impression despite being a newcomer to the music scene. Although ‘Gang’ is his second single it was actually recorded before ‘Pokish’ but just received its release and video after that track did. The comparisons to the aforementioned artists are clear to see across his two tracks but that doesn’t mean he’s just a clone.

Enamel is managed by South African based label More Coke Entertainment and he has moved over to South Africa to pursue his career in music. He was born to strict parents who wanted him to achieve but grew up often getting in trouble for having a book of lyrics he filled with songs he wanted to release in the future. That songwriting is definitely starting to pay off and his determination to reach his goal is what has gotten him this far. With the success of ‘Pokish’ and ‘Gang’ seeming to follow suit, racking up over 100,000 views in less than 5 days of its release, 2020 could be a great year for him.

On ‘Gang’ we get a catchy Afro-Pop number that would get anyone moving at a party. It isn’t the most lyrically dense, but it’s not trying to be with its primary function being creating a vibe which it does very well. This almost mimics Enamel‘s goal of doing good by using music as a weapon of positive influence and change. The infectiously catchy production is provided by award-winning producer, Kiddominant, who also worked on his first track.

Enamel is currently in the process of recording his debut EP, the process of which he’s described as “putting in the work to release a masterpiece for all my fans.”. It will be interesting to see what comes out of that and he could be the next global star to come out of Nigeria should he play his cards right.
