Nathan Cassin On His Short Film Vlog Londres & Publishing His LGBTQ+ Fairytale

Tell us a little about yourself?
My name is Nathan CASSIN, I’m a 24 years old french traveler, cinema lover, short films maker, author of several LGBTQ+ published books, and an activist. My work aims at fighting patriarchal by supporting women’s rights, transgender’s rights, and celebrating minorities.

What inspired you to do what you do?
I’m a huge fan of cinema and I thought short films were an interesting vector for my writings.

What was the biggest challenge when creating this film?
The biggest challenge for me was to edit out all the footage I took when I was shooting in London.

What was the funniest thing that happened on set?

Every moment is a funny moment when you’re shooting with your best friend and your lover. But I remember we were in a park and there was this guy with his talking parrot and the owner told us his parrot has Instagram and I realized a bird had more followers than me!

What are some of the highlights/successes you’ve had most recently?

I finished writing my third book which I believe will be the first LGBT french fairytale!

What’s next for you on your journey?

Finding a publisher for my fairytale. Finishing working on the character’s designs with the artist Mélissa Yoyotte (@Goldencoyotte) and recording voiceovers to create an audiobook version of the fairytale!

What would be your advice to other young film makers?

Even if you don’t own the best camera it doesn’t matter. In the end, you only need a subject you want to talk about. You can film the most basic things, you’ll still film it with your own perception and singularity and that’s what’s beautiful.
