When Lithuania met London with [@official_emilija]

Introducing Emilija Valiukeviciute

Lithuanian born, 5ft 7, with oceanic eyes, champagne washed hair, and idiosyncratic vocals, Emilija is unquestionably in alignment with success and public esteem, with her music due to prosper in the forthcoming months.

I first met Emilija in September 2016, where we both studied Music Business at Notting Hill Academy Of Music, a music course run in conjunction with Notting Hill Arts Club and Sony Music’s, Relentless Records. Always endearing, polished and serene, it wasn’t until I saw Emilija perform live at Notting Hill Arts Club, I was entrapped by her enchanting. That evening not only did i plant a new friendship, but I discovered a deep level of admiration for an artist I feel deserves nothing other than recommendation and recognition. I have never met anyone so intrepid enough to leave her home town of Vilnius, Lithuania, alone, to pursue her dreams of becoming a singer/songwriter in a country where she knew no one.

In Lithuania Emilija sits proudly as alumni for the prestigious B.Dvarionas Music School, where she was classically trained in piano, jazz vocals, music history and music theory. As well as being a soloist in a renaissance music ensemble called “Lirum“, she spent her time as a child/adolescent putting together performances for family and neighbours, playing piano, dancing and swimming in lakes before taking the dive into chasing her dreams, which meant her leaving her home to reside in England in 2010.

Emilija’s gamble paid off and her musical accomplishments have seen her perform at sold out arenas as an opening act for Krept and Konan, and MOBO Nominee Melissa Steel. Alongside this Emilija’s home country have supported her with Lithuanian radio play, whilst being featured on Capital Xtra’s Music Potential where she was part of a four piece girl group (4tune) as part of the project.

Not just a promising music artist, but also an actress and dancer. The statuesque songstress has appeared on Holby City and Eastenders (BBC), The Royals (E!), Jason Bourne 5 and Black Mirror, which can be found on Netflix and Channel 4.

We can expect to witness the ascension of Emilija’s career, as her music is now being pitched to Kylie Minogue, in conjunction with her own debut release “007” which Emilija co-wrote with thriving songwriter, Segun Fawole (credits include Cloud 9 Publishing and Da BeatFreakz).

Emilija has recently finished writing and recording her second single with distinguished rapper Lord TCO, in addition to collaborating with rapper Krystatic,(credits include supporting act for T.I, Soulja Boy and Ja Rule) on his debut single “Clean and Green”.

Sultry, jazz tinted vocals decorating commercial/pop sounds is what you can expect to hear from this exceptionally accomplished and dexterous beauty.

Rae: Emilija tell me where do you see your self in five years ?
Emilija: Worldwide no.1!

Rae: What inspires you ?
Emilija: My partner, my parents, my best friends and God. As an artist, I’m a human first.

Rae: Would you sign to a major ?
Emilija: Stay tuned to find out!

Rae: What is your take on the UK music scene ?Emilija: I love it. Rita ora is smashing it with her new music, Ed Sheehan doing his thing at vma’s, Adele creating timeless music and taking over the world by storm… On the top of that, so many emerging artists are absolutely smashing it. I know that on a flip side, we hear sceptics say that there arent enough opportunities but personally, all I see is great talent and they’re all coming up with a big force and creating their own opportunities relentlessly and I’m proud to be a part of this scene. I think it’s destined for great things and I’m excited about the future of this generation!

Emilija’s debut release “007” is out on all major platforms now.

We wish her every success and will catch up with her early next year for what will be a guaranteed felicitous update.
