Do You Know What’s Really In The Food You Eat? Watch ROTTEN a New Netflix Series

Rotten is a new Netflix Documentary series that focuses on the supply chain of many of the foods we know and love. If you’ve become skeptical over the content of the food you eat in recent years then this is one for you.

Episode one ” Lawyers, Guns & Honey” follows the highly lucrative honey industry, discussing the adulteration of Honey ( the process of adding fillers to increase the volume of honey )  and how this criminal trend has mislead consumers for decades. It discusses the demise of the American honey industry, destroyed by the importation of low cost honey from China and the laws that were put in place to try and protect the US Honey agricultural marketplace.

It’s a great insight into how our food is manipulated in order for producers to make higher profit margins at the sacrifice of consumers health.

Episode two ” The Peanut Problem” looks at the growing numbers of people who have allergies and why this allergy epidemic is happening. In Britain alone the chance of someone being admitted for an allergy related incident has tripled in the past 15 years.  Scientists do not understand why are bodies rejects natural food and the episode shines a light on how vital having an understanding for allergies are , as negligence can in some cases lead to death.

Most of the food we eat today contains synthetic chemicals, pesticides and fillers. There has been many studies to suggest that it is having a direct effect on our health but why are these substances still aloud to enter the food chain. The US has very loose food regulations and it is represented in the health figures in America. The UK have slightly stricter regulations on the content of our food which is backed by laws on the labeling of food in our stores.
