@AstroidBoys Drop Debut Album, Broke.

Broke Gang.

A while back, Guap got the chance to meet up with the Astroid Boys, a Rock/Grime collaborative from Cardiff. They told me they had been busy working on an album, and it’s finally here…

One of the groups well known tracks ‘Foreigners’ features on the album, and with its sick visuals, dope beat and important political messages, it’s no wonder it’s already got almost 300,000 views on YouTube. The track features, Sonny Double 1, whose track ‘Mo Farah’ is definitely worth checking out.

Tracksuits on like we’re looking for war…

‘Cheque’ grabs you straight away with a catchy beat (kinda reminds me of an old school Dizzee), with Benji and Traxx coming in with some very hard lyrics. The way the track goes back to the Grime beat after the Rock guitars and drums is mad; this is a song that I definitely want to experience live.

Got a whole squad like Boy Better Know…

‘Mask’ is more Grime than Punk, with Benji and Traxx spitting about how much they’ve progressed in music, and how some guys are just way too gassed. The outro is slowed down, which I really like, as it brings a different vibe to the track and kind of reminds me of ‘Minging’.

Killin’ it since ’03.

‘Razz’ goes straight in with the Rock vibe and gritty lyrics. Describing the come up from being a yute looking up to olders, to now being the olders doing their own thing. The very, very wavey Manga Saint Hilare features on the track, bringing his dope vibes and witty lyrics. His track ‘Different Pattern’ featuring JME and President T, is a certified banger, so it’s no wonder Astroid Boys got him on the album.

You set the scene, then you set your own standards.

The hard work the boys have been putting has definitely paid off, and this evident from listening to the album. Their sick flow, witty lyrics and underlying messages, coupled with the Grime beats and the Rock instrumentals, make for some very dope tracks. After this album drops, I think it’s safe to say that the Astroid Boys will be a name you’ll be hearing a lot more of.

Broke drops at midnight.
