WHO: Miles From Kinshasa  [@milesfromkinshasa]

GENRE: R&B/Soul

WHERE: South London

Miles from Kinshasa has been countlessly recognised for his distinctive and melodic sound with critics describing his “plush synths and swoony vocals” as a fusion of “synth pop and Congolese rumba with a vintage 80’s flair”. He’s different, unique and blends together sounds that you wouldn’t think could work but work beautifully with him.

Miles from Kinshasa was originally born in the Democratic Republic of Congo but has lived in South London for most of his life. He released his first two singles titled ‘IVRY/Kaya’ on the 15th of February back in 2016, which showcased to the world his rich musical variety alongside his soft mellow vocals. It’s clear to hear the South Londoner’s homeland inspiration as he pulls apart sounds that instantly make you move as you get lost in the rhythm of them, which is unnoticeable in his music. It wasn’t long until he released his first EP titled LIMBO on the 12th of October 2017-a beautifully blended EP that will have your mind listening to his words and your body moving to the rhythmic sounds of it.

The South Londoner has a sound that just draws listeners in from the vibe of his music to his honest lyrics. With Miles From Kinshasa working hard and consistently dropping singles it wasn’t long until his fanbase started multiplying and he was getting recognised by other artists such as Sam Wise and rappers Wretch 32, Knucks and more. Fast forward to the 19th of January 2023, which saw Miles From Kinshasa teaming up with Kadiata, Sam Wise and Knucks on his song ‘Don’t Be An Opp II’, which had everyone screaming the catchy chorus ‘Don’t be an opp’ continuously.

His latest project If not now, then when released on the 16th of February 2023 sees the self-reflective singer bringing listeners a little closer into his mind, whilst still providing his rhythmic grooves. Miles From Kinshasa’s “lively lyricism and laidback melodies” has souls moving and people screaming.

He’s on our radar and should be on yours!
