Kenny Beats Announces Debut Solo Album ‘LOUIE’

Best known for producing seminal full-length albums for some of the world’s most exciting artists (including Vince Staples, IDLES, Rico Nasty and Denzel Curry), Kenny Beats has announced that he will be dropping his very first solo project. On his debut, ‘LOUIE’ Kenny subverts expectations with an almost entirely instrumental project dedicated to his ailing father.

In fact LOUIE was never meant for the world’s ears.

Whilst in Bath producing for the IDLES , Kenny received news of his fathers pancreatic cancer diagnosis. In an ode to the eclectic mixtapes Kenny’s father made for friends and family when he was a child, the producer took it upon himself to curate a gift in return. The result is LOUIE, an album indicative of the unremitting love felt from child-to-parent – a heart-on-sleeve appreciation for his dad’s sacrifices and willingness to nurture his son’s talent.

“I always said that I wouldn’t do a solo album because I didn’t have anything to say. Finally, I did,” Kenny says. “Something dark turned into something beautiful. This album encapsulated the feeling of that one month.”
