Notting Hill born and raised Reece Yeboah is back on the fashion scene and this time with a collaborative project. His namesake brand YEBOAH has partnered with the home of timeless pieces; COS, to create a collection called Metamorphosis.
This isn’t a pair that you’d immediately imagine together but pairing COS’ dedication to craftsmanship and YEBOAH’s street-luxe wear has produced a unique and eye-catching 40 piece unisex collection.
The collection was revealed at an off-schedule intimate show at the iconic Tate Modern, against a striking backdrop of projected kaleidoscopic patterns. Poet James Massiah performed a bespoke piece in the background as the models walked down the circular runway in pieces ranging from tailored wool coats to loose-fitting knitted hoodies.
From the yellow hues to the butterfly motifs, the metamorphosis message is clear, Yeboah is in a new stage of life. Having been forced to close down his first brand Saint after receiving cease and desist letters from the NFL, he’s back with YEBOAH, renewed and refreshed.
Fashion entrepreneurship is far from an easy journey so for many designers, YEBOAH is a beacon of hope during those down times. Considering his difficult journey, friends and family in the audience were seen brimming with pride.
Fashion stars such as Edward Enninful, Riccardo Tisci and Naomi Campbell were also in attendance as well as music stars Tinie Tempah and Nines. And yet, there was still a grassroots feel to the show as all were there to support the upcoming/new designer.
After the presentation, as DJs played into the night Yeboah could be spotted weaving between the crowd grinning from ear to ear thanking everyone for coming. His pride and gratitude was palpable and to be honest, well understood.
The limited-edition collection is available exclusively at COS stores and online from today (1 February 2023).
