EVENT: Afro Nation Faces Backlash After Not Issuing Refunds. [@Afronation]
Is This The Beginning Of The End Of Afro Nation?
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Afro Nation 2020 has been postponed until 2021. The festival was set to be held 17-19 July 2020 in Portugal but has now been moved to the 1 – 3 July 2021.
A recent statement posted on Afro Nation’s Twitter account read: ‘Afro Nation has been closely monitoring this situation and working in tandem with partners, local authorities, and the Portuguese government. The safety of our fans, artists, staff, and the local community remains paramount. ‘In light of the recent Portuguese Government directive regarding large gatherings, Afro Nation Portugal will be postponed to July 1st-3rd 2021 and all tickets will remain valid.’
Afro Nation is one of the many festivals being cancelled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, it seems that popular festivals such as Wireless have given their customers the choice to either obtain a full refund or carry their ticket over to the next year. Although, Afro Nation showed much promise in 2019’s inaugural festival which proved to be a large success. Following the news, that they will not be providing a refund to festival-goers has led to many upset customers publically expressing Afro Nation’s lack of service and care for their customers in these times. Could this huge wave of backlash mark the beginning of the end, for the young festival?
