Gucci [@GUCCI] Announces Changemakers Scholarship 2024 Winners
Gucci has unveiled the latest recipients of its Gucci Changemakers London Scholarship, a multi-year initiative created to empower the next generation of fashion creatives.
This year, three exceptional students have been awarded scholarships to study at London College of Fashion (LCF), part of the University of the Arts London (UAL), to continue Gucci’s commitment to fostering diversity and social change within the fashion industry.
Micah Eghafona – BA (Hons) Creative Direction for Fashion
Micah Eghafona, whose work centres on emotional resonance rather than profitability, hopes to use the platform to promote authenticity and self-expression. “I want my art to evoke confusion, to encourage people to question their realities,” he said. “This scholarship will provide the connections and support I need to turn these ideas into tangible projects.”
Malak Bedidi – BA (Hons) Fashion Styling and Production
Malak Bedidi, whose work focuses on social representation and marginalised voices, plans to shape societal narratives through fashion. “I hope my work inspires others to think critically, challenge assumptions, and reimagine identity,” she said.
Elena Mai Kilminster-Davis – BA (Hons) Fashion Marketing and Content Creation
Elena Mai Kilminster-Davis, who focuses on taboo-breaking topics in her creative practice, aims to educate others and inspire fellow creatives. She added, “The mentorship and opportunities provided through this program will allow me to collaborate on impactful projects and explore my identity as a creative.”
This scholarship is part of a broader commitment by Gucci to support youth-led organisations that are creating social change. For the past three years, the program has supported organisations such as Art Against Knives, RISE 365, and The Advocacy Academy, all of which focus on empowering young people.
With the announcement of the 2024 cohort, Gucci is also encouraging aspiring creatives to apply for the next round of the Changemakers Scholarship. Applications for the 2025 cohort will open in March 2025 and close on May 23, 2025. To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be part of the UAL Insights Program, which aims to support students from underrepresented backgrounds. Applications to the UAL Insights Program are open until December 11, 2024.
