Originally an American shopping day dating back to the 1950s, Black Friday started to become popular in the UK in 2010. Fast forward to 2023 and Black Friday has been a thing in the UK for many years now. However, many deem Black Friday and its UK born counterpart Boxing Day sales as irrelevant, due to sales year round being the norm. Plus, many brands have been found to mark pieces as sold out to give the illusion of sales, or increase the original price of items, so when discounted the final price for the customer is the same.

However, if you play your cards right it is still a great opportunity to save some money on pieces you would have happily bought anyway, get a start on Christmas shopping and give yourself an end of year treat. So, here are some of the best Black Friday deals we’ve seen so far.

1. SSENSE

This one is for the luxury folks! Fashion retailer SSENSE is offering up to 50% discount on selected items. With slashed prices on fashion lovers’ faves, such as KNWLS, Diesel and Jacquemus, if there’s a big ticket item you have had on your wishlist for a while, now is the time to get it. Plus, due to the high price point of many of their items, the discount can save you a whole lot.

2. Seventh Stores

The cold weather is upon us and it is well and truly cozy season. Bring on the scarves, jackets, and of course, the tracksuits. Finding the right tracksuit can be difficult – it is hard to find one that is stylish, a good fit, and good enough quality to come out of the wash looking brand new each time. Australian based fashion label Ksubi are known for their denim pieces. This year they have sales all across the black friday period. From December 1st, they have an in-store holiday promotion across all 5 of their international stores including their London flagship. London based brand Nii Hai, best known for their statement boots and dangerously short skirts, encourages wearers to be free and ignore the rules. With a big 70% off for Black Friday, now is the time to join the crew.

7. Vitaly

Toronto based jewellery brand Vitaly has 30% off everything this festive season. With lifetime warranty and all pieces being made from 100% recycled stainless steel, this is a good time to invest in a long lasting piece. While they are known for their heavy, grunge pieces they also do have some more delicate and even gold plated rings and necklaces. As much as Black Friday is a great time to get deals on fashion, tech products and cosmetics that you would have bought anyway, it also encourages overconsumption. Warsaw and Paris based brand MISBHV, who label themselves as being the go to place for club wear, created a stir after launching their first flagship store (and club space) in China this week.
