Five For Friday ft [@JordsOnline], [@TebiRex], [@thekidlaroi] + more
Friday’s are packed full of releases, these are 5 you should pay particular attention to today.
Five for Friday is back again. Friday is essentially the most important day of the week musically. Friday is also the day that the official charts are announced letting us know who holds the coveted number one position. To make life a little easier this Friday we are giving you 5 of our top picks that have just dropped.
Jords – Black & Ready
Jords is back with another poignant message on ‘Black & Ready’ after having just dropped his Almost An Adult project not too long ago. The track, of course, speaks to the recent refocus on highlighting racial inequality but is also working towards helping improve that. All proceeds from the track are being donated to The Black Curriculum a social enterprise that aims to bring Black British history into the UK curriculum as a way of helping facilitate social change.
Chronixx ft. Kabaka Pyramid – Same Prayer
Chronixx provides a pillar of strength and hope on ‘Same Prayer’, a benediction that carries a universal message throughout life’s ups and downs. Fellow Jamaican lyricist Kabaka Pyramid complements the song with a verse echoing his sentiment. Following ‘Dela Move’, ‘Same Prayer’ is the second reveal from Chronixx’s upcoming sophomore album Dela Splash, which is slated for release later this year. The Zion I Kings produced track is available today with visuals dropping next week.
Kojey Radical ft. Mereba – Same Boat
Kojey Radical continues his run of formidable new music for 2020 with his emotive, reflective and uplifting new single ‘Same Boat’, featuring Atlanta singer, songwriter and producer MEREBA. The East London polymath switches gears for a softer tone on the new cut, matched against the raspy, regal vocals of one-to-watch talent MEREBA.
Tebi Rex – I Got My Whole
The delicately pronounced ‘I Got My Whole’ blends alternative hip-hop and pop in a way that sets Tebi Rex apart from the crowd, showing once again the duo’s knack for a killer hook and their relentless desire to always move their sound forward. The self-declared “best live Irish hip-hop act” made a lot of noise last year in the run up to their debut album release. They marked their UK debut at the Great Escape and took to the stage later in the year at Ireland Music Week – where previous line-up acts have included Fontaines DC and Kojaque.
The Kis LAROI ft. Juice WRLD – Go
16 year old The Kid LAROI returns with the tender new song ‘Go’ featuring former mentor and friend Juice WRLD. The Kid LAROI has long acknowledged that Juice WRLD discovered him, helped refine his sound as well as championed his music and ultimately opened many doors for him. Directed by frequent collaborator Steve Cannon, the nostalgic accompanying visuals feature some of the intimate moments between the two and embodies the endearing dynamic that resulted in the creation of the song. The video is essentially an ode to friendship and closeness and a way for The Kid LAROI to honour his mentor.
