Abdourahman Njie reminds us that story-telling does not only live in books but in movement and dance.

Abdourahman Njie is a 24-year old, London based multidisciplinary artist born in Sweden and raised in Essex.  He works as a choreographer, lecturer at University for the Creative Arts in Rochester, photographer, videographer and a casting director. The multi-hyphenate artist explores the art of story-telling through movement. His work speaks volumes about the importance of an artist’s creative freedom and self-expression in art. He reminds us that story-telling does not only live in books or in the details of paintings but in the power of movement and dance.

 With his recent collaboration with clothing brand “Stone Island,” Abdourahman Njie told Browns Fashion, “Dance helps me change perspectives and narratives of people around me. Especially in the society we live in, there are so many stories to tell. You can make a dance about love, you can make a dance about pain, you can make it about happiness. Through that you’re influencing people; you’re influencing narratives.”

With every project that Abdourahman Njie releases as an individual or in collaboration with other brands, he is unapologetic about who he is and the purpose of his art. It seems that with everything that he produces, there is a piece of his artistic soul that is evident in all of it. We look forward to seeing what is next for the talented artist!
