[@IAMADREYN] shares his ‘Illusions’ on his highly anticipated debut EP
South London’s Adreyn Cash has dropped his highly anticipated debut EP ‘Illusions’.
Adreyn is a singer, songwriter and producer. He co-produced ‘Illusions’ alongside some of the finest UK musicians and instrumentalist such as: Nutty P, Ghetts, Shakka, Professor Green, 169, Drake, Craig David, Stormzy and rising producers Jamal Woon (Wiley).
The EP’s opener ‘Angel’s Lie’ sees Adreyn lamenting a loss of innocence and at the end of a relationship. This is followed by the deeply personal ‘Breathe’, written by the vocalist when he was battling depression back in 2017. Also, there’s ‘Strange Fruit’, a track about our lifelong search for unconditional love. Another track to listen out for is the slow burning ‘Mama Papa’. As well as the guitar-driven sensual ballad ‘Sweetest Taste’. His debut project takes the listener on an expansive lyrical and musical journey. Which creates a greatly compelling listen from start to finish.
He commented on inspirations behind the project. Adreyen says: “I wanted to write a project about the way I saw the world, my hopes and aspirations. All the things I wanted but felt I didn’t have, all the things that were illusive in my life: success, happiness, joy, love & freedom. This Illusions EP was a way for me to break through any illusions, with the hope of actualising these aspirations”.
No stranger to the limelight, the singer’s profile gained prominence as he stars as a cast member for the series, BKChat. Hailing from Jamaica, he draws influences from greats such as Prince, Aretha Franklin, Sam Cooke and Michael Jackson.
His pure, smooth and lush vocals, that travel across soul, R&B, pop and alternative music is what makes him stand out from the rest. His signature alternative soul sound excellently fuses elements of pop, rock, R&B, gospel and classical music to create something striking and unique, and yet warmly familiar, A skill which has been honed to perfection over the years.
