New Find: Ricardo Williams [@iamRicardoW] This Singer’s Voice Will Give You Chills
New Find: In this series we will be sharing with you some of the artists we randomly come across. They may not necessarily be new but so long as they are dope, we’ll be the plug to make sure you know who’s hot before everyone else does.
So as usual I was listening to music on Soundcloud and I can’t actually remember exactly how I stumbled across one of Ricardo’s songs called ‘Deeper’. At the time I just like the song but as I kept listening to the song as time went by I realised how good that song was and how sick his voice is. Then I headed over to his profile and found out he’s a local lad. I believe he was born and raised in London but now settled in Birmingham. To be honest when I first heard his song it really reminded me of Marvin Sapp that strong but very flexible vocal range.
With years of experience in the music industry Ricardo is stepping up to the forefront to share his life and story with the world. Hailing from the city of London and now settled in Birmingham, Ricardo Williams was always surrounded by musical influences during his childhood. “I started singing at age 7,” recalls Ricardo. “Since then, I wanted to expand my musical involvement, so I started singing in talent shows, school plays, church and around friends and family.” The next step for Ricardo was to create and
share his own music, so at the age of 12, he began writing his own lyrics to various instrumentals.
Influenced by artists such as Boyz II Men, Donnie Hathaway, Commissioned,
Daryl Coley, Dru Hill, Fred Hammond, Tank and Dave Hollister Ricardo already had a set of strong models from which he was able to create his own blueprint. “I think a lot of people try to recreate the songs of the past. I try to recreate the feelings of what I loved about those songs. I try to make my own melodies that bring out those feelings in people. When I write I want you to feel whatever emotion I am going through. I want it to feel personal. I want you to feel like you are in my life.”
Ricardo’s singing and song writing eventually led him to join premier group ‘The Company’ releasing, the wildly praised album ‘The Lost code’
Taking a Brief hiatus from the limelight. Ricardo decided he would hone his skills by and still feed his passion for music by doing backing vocals for artist such as; Tweet, Onishia, Shea Norman, Dwele, Keisha McFarland, Joy Denalane, Bilal, Jeffery Daniels and G – force to name a few.
